Virat Kohli – from a Punjabi boy to one of the biggest cricketers in the world.

is the biggest cricketing star of today. He hit his first double century and first ever by an Indian captain overseas in West Indies yesterday. However, he has been making new records as a player ad captain.

He was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi to a Punjabi Sikh Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli. His father’s death early in Virat’s life changed his life and ade him focus on his career. He has one elder brother, Vikash and one elder sister, Bhavna.

He got his initial training in West Delhi Cricket Academy, since 1998. He also used to play matches for Sumit Dogra Academy near Noida. Virat Kohil considers Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa as his role model and also is a fan of of Leander Paes (Indian tennis star) and Roger Federer.

He was the captain of the champion Indian team at the 2008 U/19 Cricket World Cup held in Malaysia. Virat represents Delhi in first-class cricket and is the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the Indian Premier League. He was the part of the 2011 world cup winning Indian team.  Virat was awarded the ‘Man of the Tournament’ for his brilliant performance in the ICC World T20.

Kohli was been dating Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma earlier but  the couple has broke-off in an amiable manner.

He has rated 13th by the SportsPro as the most “Marketable Athlete in the World” and has the highest brand value among Indian sports stars.. He endorses brands including Arvind’s Flying Machine, Titan Fastrack, PepsiCo, Fair & Lovely, Celkon Mobiles, Nike, among others.
