Trains to be named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh on 350th birth anniversary
To mark the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the railways has drawn an elaborate plan to mark the occasion by naming a few trains after the 10th Sikh Guru and also making operational the defunct Patna Sahib station.
The station is one of the oldest in the country would have cosy retiring rooms, a spacious reservation complex, well- equipped information booths and well- maintained washrooms, a senior Railway Board official said. It would function round the clock to facilitate the passengers.
The step has been taken after the Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur wrote to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
The railways would put up display boards at strategic points to give updates on the movement of the trains and details on the Parkash Utsav.
Apart from Railways, Bihar had chipped in with Rs 4 crore to set up information booths and provide amenities in and around the Patna Sahib station, he said.
The railways is also exploring running a train from Amritsar to Patna Sahib.
