Its foundation was laid in 1916 in Sheikhupura, Pakistan, shifted to Amritsar after partition. The restaurant was a favourite of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indra Gandhi.

3. Gurudas Ram Jalebianwale
Technically not a dhaba, but any visit to Amritsar is incomplete without a trip to Jalebianwale. At any time of the day, land up here to taste the fresh jalebis which emerge crisp and golden from a kadai of pure ghee. Most likely, it will beat any previous encounter with this humble sweet. Hot, crisp, made in desi ghee! What’s not to like.
