Soldier beheaded by ultras under Pak cover along LoC; Family wants revenge
On Friday night, an Indian soldier, Manjeet Singh of the 17th Sikh Regiment, was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Machil sector along the Line of Control of Kupwara district.
“This act will invite an appropriate response,” said an Army spokesman. Manjeet’s brother Sandeep Singh voiced his own feeling that of family ‘I want to join India Army and take revenge. For one head, we should cut their 10 heads”
He said the soldier was killed during an encounter late on Friday. A militant was also gunned down. An official statement initially said: “In a despicable act, the terrorists mutilated the body of the soldier before fleeing into PoK,” adding they were provided cover by Pakistan troops.

The soldier’s body was mutilated, and his head was reportedly carried back across the LoC by the terrorists as they fled back into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), under supporting fire cover by Pakistani troops. One attacker was also neutralised by the Indian Army in the incident.
Sources said the operation seemed to be the handiwork of a BAT (border action team), which typically consists of terrorists and Pakistan Army regulars, and is bound to further escalate tensions along the Line of Control and the international boundary in J&K.
