Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi is likely to launch his Punjab Elections Campaign and sources says that there is a chance that he will hold roadshows after a majority of top leaders proposed a series of Public addressing scheme by the Gandhi sections in the urban areas.
Senior Punjab Congress leaders held a meeting to discuss the Rahul’s elections tour program. After the meeting at his residence, Punjab Congress President Capt Amarinder Singh said that nothing has been finalized regarding Rahul’s campaign.
Congress Punjab Poll strategist Prashant Kishore was not the part of the meeting, which was attended by Ambika Soni; Congress State in charge Asha Kumari; her deputy in the AICC, Harish Choudhary; Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Channi; and former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal. Others present included party leaders Lal Singh, Partap Singh Bajwa, Choudhary Santokh Singh, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Raj Kumar Chhabewal and Manpreet Badal.
Kishore would be consulted later about the plan which state leaders shared with Amarinder Singh and Asha Kumari today. Most of them said road hows would help the party connect with a large audience and a major public rally could follow in late November. Leaders also wants Rahul to visit boarder areas.
However, Political analysts in Punjab are not sure if Rahul will make any difference to Congress fortune. Congress in Punjab is led by Amarinder Singh who is popular in the state. However, Rahul’s presence may motivate grassroots party workers to work a little extra hard.
