Punjab Police has set second line of defence along border
Though the Punjab Police has shortage of staff, it still has successfully set up the strong second line of defence along the border. DGP Suresh Arora said that the second control line has been set to tackle any terrorist activity across the border.
Punjab, which faced two terror attacks earlier this year had announced deployment of a commando battalion and a special SWAT team in Pathankot as a “second line of defence” and also sought deployment of more BSF troops along the states border with Pakistan.
The DGP was the part of disposal of huge amount of narcotics in Amritsar, these were drugs which were seized all over the Punjab including Amritsar, rural Gurdaspur, Batala and Tarn Tarn, at incinerators of Khanna Paper Mill here.
The destroyed Narcotics were seized in 404 cases registered in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Tarn, Pathankot and Batala. As per information 1.192 kg heroine, 955gm Cocaine,2.7kg smack, 10.19 kg Charas, capsules and injections were destroyed.
DGP Arora said “to avoid pilferage, a centralised ‘malkhana’ has been set up under the direct supervision of an SP level official. The place where drugs are stored is monitored 24×7 thriugh high definition cameras. He also said post Pathankot airbase attacks we had strengthened our second line of defence along border. Around 1000 additional forces has been sanctioned for Pathankot district.
