Punjab govt announces 6% DA hike for staff, pensioners | Diwali Gift

Punjab DA Hike

To make this Diwali a little more celebratory, Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Friday gave his nod to release 6% dearness allowance (DA) with November salary or pension for the government employees and pensioners.

With the release of this DA installment, the state would touch 125% from present 119% of the basic pay/pension, Dhindsa, in a statement issued here, said.

In a relief to foreign-settled retired employees, he said DA would continue with their pensions. The government has decided to take back a letter stopping DA of pensioners who have acquired foreign citizenship, he added.

With electiosn round the corner,SAD is going all out to woo people, employees and specific communities with goodies. It’s also putting up thousands of hoardings telling everyone of the good work this givernment has done.

Aage Vadhda (Marching ahead) Punjab, Raj Nahi Sewa (Not rule but service) and Punjab Punjabiyan Da (Punjab is of Punjabis) – these are the catchwords being used by the Badals to stress on their developmental works and harp on Arvind Kejriwal’s outsider image. The slogan on its other publicity material tries to negate the feeling of anger against the ruling party as it says – ‘Proud to be an Akali, Proud to be an Punjabi’.
