India celebrates Nausena (Navy) Day on 4th December to commemorate India’s victory in the India-Pakistan war in 1971 when missile boats of the Indian Navy carried out a deadly attack on Karachi Harbour.  The mission titled as Operation Trident commenced on the same date.

As India gears up to celebrate Navy Day on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the bravery of the naval forces. In a tweet, PM Modi said that the country cherishes the role played by the Navy. “Navy Day greetings to all navy personnel & their families. We cherish the vital role of the navy & salute the bravery of our navy personnel.”

Earlier, thousands of people thronged RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening to witness the final dress rehearsal for the operational demonstration to be held on Navy Day.
This year has also been an eventful one for the Indian Navy as the International Fleet Review was held in Vizag in February where more than 50 countries participated.
