Mushroom-ing around at Punjab Agricultural University

#LUDHIANA: A five-day vocational training program on “Mushroom Cultivation and Processing” was conducted by Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur. As many as 23 trainees attended the training program.

While inaugurating the program, Mandeep Singh, associate director (training), dwelt on the scope and economics of mushroom cultivation. Earlier, he welcomed the trainees from different villages of Sangrur district.

Monika Choudhary, assistant professor (home science), told about nutritional and medicinal use of mushrooms and their processing.

Ashok Kumar, assistant professor (soil science), highlighted the importance and use of spent compost in agriculture.

The participants were also informed about the subsidy and credit schemes by Jagdev Singh, deputy director (horticulture) and Rajinder Kumar Garg, councilor, Financial Literacy Centre, Sangrur respectively. An exposure visit of trainees to Green Point Mushroom Farm, Sunam was also organized.
