Movie Toofan Singh denied Censor clearance for glorifying anti-nationals

Release of Punjabi film  has been cancelled after the Indian board refused clearance citing that the film promotes anti nationals and glorifies movement.

Toofan Singh is partly based on Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan, a young boy growing up in Punjab during the 1980’s. He was arrested by police at the age of 13  but escaped from prison.Devastated by the deteriorating law and order situation, Toofan Singh join the fight against corruption, crime and brutality but ended up joining dreaded KLF (Khalistan Liberation Force) that was notorious for planned bomb attacks and killing of policemen.

He also help many in distress, making him popular as a ‘good militant’. Lakhs of people attended the funeral when he, then just 19 years old, died in a 1990 police encounter.

The film is the directorial debut of Baghal Singh and stars renowned Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa.
