Why Mandy Takhar is the New Punjabi Superstar?
Mandy was born in the UK (Wolverhampton) to a Sikh Jatt family. She was a tomboy growing up, being the only girl in boys’ school rugby and football teams. she also trained in martial Arts.
In India, she debuted with renowned Punjabi singer Babbu Mann in the 2010 film, Ekam – Son of Soil. She then hit the jackpot with a lead role opposite the superstar #Gippy Grewal in the big-budgeted #punjabi film, Mirza – The Untold Story. Her role in Mirza got her nominated for the best #actress at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards.
In 2013, she appeared in a whacky Punjabi Comedy Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 (translation: You’re my (bhai) brother & I’m your brother) with Amrinder Gill and Honey Singh.
She made her south debut with a sensuous role in the Tamil film Biriyani. She has to learn Kathak to do justice to the character.
Mandy is not just glamour though. She also made short movie Goonj that focuses on women harassment and need to stand against such issues. And Do you know that Mandy personally visited refugee camps near Iraq and Syria border, with UK based charity Khalsa Aid to help the refugees in crisis?
In the last two years, Mandy has worked in some of the biggest hits like Sardaar Ji, Munde Kamaal De, Ardaas and Sardaarji 2 (special appearance).
Producers consider her lucky for their ventures with good reason. Mandy has the looks, talent, professional attitude and luck on her side to take her to super stardom.
