Karan Johar bats for Pakistan to save his investment
Karan Johar does not want his investment in Pakistani artists to go waste, though he says that his heart ‘bleeds’ for the lives lost in the Uri terror attack. Pakistani Artist, Fawad Khan, stars in Karan Johar’s upcoming film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which is slated to release this Diwali.
He added boycotting artistes from Pakistan is no solution to terrorism. Johar’s comment comes after MNS threatened Pakistani artistes like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan to leave India, failing which the shooting of their films would be stalled. The MNS came down heavily on Karan Johar after he pledged support to Pakistan artists in Mumbai
“You are faced in a situation such as this (asking for ban on Pak artistes). If this was truly a solution, one would take it,” the director told a news channel. One protester outside Johar’s home remarked that Johar conveniently forgets that, even if they may not be directly involved, Fawad and others pay taxes and religious charity in Pakistan that fund terrorism in India.
“But this is not a solution. I don’t believe it is. The larger forces have to come together and sort the situation and this cannot be banning talent or art.”
Like many other Pak sympathisers in India, Johar, instead of Pakistan, accuses his own countrymen for protesting against him saying “I feel vulnerable and scared while even saying this. If my film is targeted because of this, it will make me exceptionally sad”
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police claims that it will give security to Pakistan nationals in Mumbai who have valid documents. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ashwini Sanap said,”We are taking this matter seriously. Proper security will be given to all the artists in Mumbai. They need not worry.”
