Jasneet Kaur, Punjabi TV actress duped of ₹6 Crore

Jasneet Kaur, Punjabi TV actress duped

Jasneet Kaur, a former TV actress, has registered a cheating police case against Amit Gupta, a resident of Pathankot of duping her of Rs 6 Crore. Even though the alleged fraud took place almost seven years back, Kaur decided to approach the police now.

In the case, Jasneet Kaur has accused a producer of Punjabi music videos of duping her of Rs 6 crore on the pretext of producing a big-budget Punjabi movie.

Kaur, who had acted in TV serials around four to five years back, came in touch with Gupta in 2007-08. Gupta told her that he was planning a movie along with a production house and offered her partnership. While Gupta and Kaur would have to pay 50%, the rest would be paid by the production house.

Gupta allegedly prepared a fake agreement in the name of one Swatanter Pal Singh in which he signed an agreement for the production of the movie. Kaur then decided to pay her share.

As stated in the FIR, on August 4, 2008, Kaur paid Rs 15 lakh to Gupta at the house of her friend in Sector 68. On September 22, 2008, Kaur allegedly paid him Rs 15 lakh more at the same house. Sources said Gupta contacted Kaur after a few months and demanded more money.

Kaur took a loan of Rs 1 crore from Axis Bank, Patiala, and of Rs 1.50 crore from Federal Bank, Panchkula. She paid him Rs 1.55 crore when he came with his sister Poonam to her friend’s house in Sector 68. SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Kaur claimed to have paid the rest of the amount of Rs 4.25 crore to Gupta in a span of one year.

When Kaur began asking Gupta about the project, he started making excuses and assured her the project would start soon as formalities were being completed. Finally, when Kaur realized that she had been duped as there was no contract between Swatanter and others, Kaur approached the police in June.

However, Gupta, refused to join the investigation despite summons being issued to him. SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, “After investigating the facts, a case was registered against the accused under section 420 of the IPC. Our teams are raiding his locations and he will be arrested soon.”
