Holy ‘Birs’ burnt in accidental gurdwara fire

Two “birs” of , two “gutkas” and some other articles were burnt due to short-circuit at Gurdwara Sahib in Bakhtarri village near Bhawanigarh today. Members of the gurdwara management, son of the village sarpanch and other persons left for Sri Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran district to hand over the burnt scriptures to the gurdwara authorities.

Sources said the fire broke out around 10 am and was first noticed by the granthi of the Gurdwara Sahib. He informed villagers about it who controlled the fire.

Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pritpal Singh Thind confirmed this evening that the fire broke out in the gurdwara today due to short-circuit.
