Four Students were injured in a clash between Kashmiri students and others at the Gulzar Group of Institutes in Ludhiana district’s Khanna on Sunday. One of the injured received serious injuries to the head. It seems that Kashmiri students were sympathising with Muslim terrorists, insulting the Indian Army Martyrs during Uri Attack.

One of the injured students, Mukesh, received serious injuries to the head and was taken for a CT scan. Others injured in the clash were Vishal, Deendyal and Rajkumar.

The clash began at the college mess. A student said, “The group from Kashmir is of 25-30 students and this rivalry was brewing since months. During India-Pakistan sports matches, they raised anti-India slogans but it never escalated as college authorities intervened. Since last few days, they were mocking the martyrdom of soldiers at Uri.

On Sunday, the situation turned tense in the mess. We were 5-6 in number as the rest were in the hostel rooms. Our friend went for breakfast in the mess when they (Kashmiri) started passing comments. He was badly beaten….We went to save him and both groups exchanged blows. Later, they confronted each other in the lawn.”

A Kashmir student, meanwhile, said, “Since this tension at the border has started, there is bullying and taunting from both sides wherever students from Bihar and Kashmir sit together.” Many students protested that Kashmiri youngsters are getting subsidy from the Indian government to study in India but are still supporting Pakistan terrorists.

DSP Khanna Jagwinder Singh Cheema tried to defuse the tension saying, “There were no pro-Pakistan slogans. They are living ‘peacefully’ in hostels together.”
