Food Items designed to make you hungrier

You eat something. Chew it down, it gets processed and then digested. Boom. Sounds easy, right? Wrong.

The human body is like a Pandora box of weirdness because some things that we eat trick our mind into thinking we’re full, when we’re only just getting hungrier.

Even though we’ve consumed these food goodies, hoping to settle the grumble in our stomachs, it only makes us want to much on more.

1. Them Fries and that Burger tho

I know you think of, maybe, a McMeal when looking for something reasonable and snack-y to kill the hunger for a while. Almost any and all fast food is designed to make you hungrier, thanks to a little something called trans-fats, which can impair the body’s ability to produce appetite-controlling neurotransmitters.

I used to wonder why I ever got those hunger pangs post McDonalds.

2. White bread.

Yes, even the most basic and staple food item- sandwich which your mom gave you in the tiffin for break time, makes matters worse. Eating white bread causes your insulin levels to spike, thanks to it lacking in full-fiber content.

Sandwich no more! :’(

3. Even juices!

The little tetra pack that you carry around thinking you’ll drink it if you get hungry? Liquid diet is not a solution. Rather its worse. Packaged juices contain no skin or pulp, but do contain a bunch of sugar. This sugar can cause your blood sugar levels to rise up and then down again, making you want to binge.

4. Chips- All time favorite

Because it’s the cheapest form of food available and the maximum quantity for that amount, we pick up chips to serve as snacks or starters or to dim the hunger. Whereas they help do the opposite. They wreck havoc with you insulin levels and The massive amounts of salt can also dehydrate you and confuse your body into thinking you’re hungry.

Never picking up that bbq flavored packet of chips again.

5. Alcohol- the enemy

Alcohol can cause the levels of your Leptin – A hormone that controls hunger – to plummet, which basically means it makes you hungrier.

Should’ve listened to your parents.

6. White Pasta

So you enter a café and don’t feel like eating too much so you order a pasta to fill your stomach. Regular pasta has no nutrients, and without that fiber, eating this is like a vicious cycle. The more you eat, the hungrier you’ll feel. Go for whole grain pasta instead.

7. The kiddie meal- Cereal

Even though we eat cereal 1 fine day thinking we saved up some calories, we just end up wanting to eat more and more. Sorry to break this to you, but most popular cereals are designed to make you hungrier. The only safe option is something like unsweetened oatmeal. The sugar and the lack of fiber in most cereals can leave you feeling starved in minutes.

8. Everyones love- Maggie.

Yes you heard that right. Sadly, because Maggie contains MSG, which is the main culprit of making you want to binge eat. This popular flavourenhancer that’s found in everything from Maggie to processed. It also blunts the effects of Leptin, a hormone that controls hunger.

9. That protein bar

All you gym freaks out there, protein bars don’t add to your bulking up stock or really help health, so there’s absolutely no point stopping yourself from picking up other things for them. Yup, even these seemingly healthy options can elevate your blood sugar levels. The huge amounts of carbs in these will raise your insulin levels, which will in turn lead to weight gain.

10. Chewing gum

No really, you read that right. Don’t let your eyes pop.

When you’re continuously chewing, gastric juices are released and so is excessive saliva. Which goes down to the stomach and fools the stomach into thinking there is food to be digested, making you hungrier.
