England has a mountain to climb on the last day of 2nd Test vs India
On the final day of the second Test, England has eight wickets in hand to survive over 90 overs to avoid going 1-0 down.
However, before this on day four, English Captain Cook and new opener Haseeb Hameed played patiently to thwart India almost till the end. However, it was quite clear that England is only thinking about saving the test and not winning, though if England can play till the end that have an outside chance.
On 45, Cook survived a reviewed lbw against Jadeja that was adjudged to be turning down the leg-side. One over later, he escaped again when the impact was adjudged to be umpire’s call. India lost both its review in the space of five balls.
However, England lost both of their incumbents – Hameed for a patient 25 from 188 deliveries, by an Ashwin’s unplayable offbreak and then, in the final over of the day, Cook, played once too often across the line to Ravi Jadeja and missed the line.

That late strike allowed India to leave the field with a great chance to win the match to go 1-0 up. India remain strong favourites on a surface that will test the remaining English Batsmen.
England 255 (Stokes 70, Bairstow 53, Root 53, Ashwin 5-67) and 87 for 2 (Root 5*) need another 318 runs to beat India 455 and 204 (Kohli 81, Broad 4-33, Rashid 4-82)
