Chandigarh, December 19
Hereafter, No Badal photo on calendar.
The coming year’s calendar of Punjab Government will not be carrying the photographs of Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal or his aides.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked the government not to print official calendars and diaries till the former approves its design and content.

Every year, thousands of such calendars are supplied to offices government/semi-government undertakings and boards, corporations and local bodies managed by the government. Significantly, current year’s calendar carries photos of the nearly all politically active family members of the Badal family.
“Such calendars and diaries will be supplied in the first week of January. The model code of conduct must be enforced by then. At that juncture, the EC can’t allow the supply of stationary carrying photographs of any politician. Instead of pictures of individuals, they can use any illustration or picture of any important building having historical significance,” said a senior election official.
“Moreover, if government changes after elections, this entire stationary will go waste and the printing of new material will be an additional burden on exchequer,” he added.
Confirming the development, Senu Duggal, Director, Public Relations, said: “We have received the letter from the EC. We will certainly seek their approval before finalising the designs of coming year’s calendars and diaries.”
