Ditched by AAP, Sidhu forms new party in Punjab

After AAP could not accommodate Navjot Sidhu in AAP senior leadership, the former BJP MP has decided to go solo in Punjab and create the fourth front in Punjab.

Sidhu, according to reports, has launched his own party named “Aawaaz-e-Punjab” ahead of the state assembly elections. The formal announcement will be made in 3-4 days.

The front, Awaz-e-Punjab, will be launched by September 9, declared a big red poster shared on Facebook by the cricketer turned politician’s wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is a BJP lawmaker in the Punjab Assembly.

Sidhu, who had stunned his party by resigning from the Rajya Sabha on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on July 18, has tied up with former hockey captain Pargat Singh and Bains brothers to float the party, the reports added.

Kejriwal had last week denied that Sidhu had set any “pre-condition” for joining the AAP and appealed for respecting Sidhu’s “need (for) time to think”. The AAP supremo took to social media for dispelling “rumours” about the former cricketer’s entry into AAP. “Would Navjot Sidhu ji join AAP-lot of rumours? It’s my duty to put forward our side. We have greatest regard for this cricket legend,” said Kejriwal.

Calling him a “good human being”, Kejriwal said, he would continue to respect Sidhu where he join AAP or not.
