Delhi CM Kejriwal accuses both Badal and Amrinder of fooling people of Punjab on Sutlej Yamuna Link issue
Jagraon: In an ironic twist, Delhi Chief Minister and Haryanvi Arvind kejriwal accuses both SAD’s Parkash Singh Badal and Congress’s Amarinder Singh of fooling the people of Punjab.
Kejriwal claimed that only AAP that can protect the waters of Punjab. However he did not explain how he would solve the problem as he keeps sniping at the prime Minister Narendra modi and his relationship with the central government a well as Haryana is really bad.
Responding to the demand by Congress and the ruling Akali Dal to make his stand clear on the issue of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, on Sunday said that Punjab does not have extra water and the question of giving it to any other state does not arise.
Addressing media persons at Jagraon, around forty kilometers from here, Kejriwal said that SAD and Congress are fooling Punjabis on the issue of SYL. He added that both the parties are responsible for constructing the SYL and are now shedding ‘crocodile tears’ to misguide the people of state. He ignored the debate about him being an outsider Haryanvi who may favour Haryana in the water dispute.
Kejriwal claimed that Parkash Singh Badal, being CM of Punjab in 1978, acquired land for SYL and now in 2016 he is trying to act as the “savior of Punjab waters” by passing resolution on it. He demanded that Badal must clarify whether he was wrong in 1978 or is he now in 2016.
Kejriwal claimed that it was the then prime minister Indira Gandhi who signed the agreement on SYL and also started construction work along with Captain Amarinder Singh. He claimed that Punjab Congress had welcomed the construction at that time.
