Congress meeting held, Navjot Singh Sidhu not discussed
The much discussed topic right now is….which party would Sighu join or at least support? Congress organised a high level meeting and the main objective of the meeting was to decide the ticket distribution and schedule of Party’s President Rahul Gandhi’s campaign schedule for the state.
It was certain that the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Capt Amarinder Singh will resolve the confusion of participation of Sidhu in Congress but the discussion was opposite as Sidhu’s matter didn’t came in the limelight.
The Congress leadership, particularly its Punjab unit, is divided over the issue of admitting cricketer-turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu into the party, more so over his bargaining methods’, sources said.
Asha Kumari, Party’s high command told the public that neither Sonia Gandhi nor Rahul Gandhi did ever discussed Sidhu, as he never approached them for being the part of Congress.
The Congress however said that Sidhu was welcomed to join the party but he has to join the party without any conditions like others did. Others here refers to Manpreet Badal and Inderbir Baloria. Captain added that anyone who was willing to “accept policies and programmes of Congress” was welcome into the party.
The AICC spokesperson has also made a similar statement. On his part, former PCC chief P S Bajwa, who was replaced by Captain, has openly called for Sidhu’s entry into Congress, saying every seat will count.
