Chandigarh raises upper age limit for UT govt jobs to 37 from 25 earlier
Raising the upper age limit for government jobs was a long-pending demand of employee unions and residents, especially the youth. The Chandigarh UT Administration on Friday enhanced the upper age limit for entry into the government service in Chandigarh — from 25 to 37 years for jobs in Group C and Group D categories.
Now, aspirants can apply for government jobs in the Chandigarh Administration till the age of 37 years.
This was announced by MP Kirron Kher at the UT Guesthouse. The orders by the Department of Personnel, Chandigarh Administration, read, “To provide avenues of employment to aspiring youth, it has been decided to enhance the limit for first entry into government service (in direct recruitment) for all technical and non-technical posts in Chandigarh Administration from 18-25 years to 18-37 years on the pattern of the Punjab government.”

It was also mentioned that the matter had been considered by the administration in depth to redress the long-standing demands of the unions or federations of employees of Chandigarh Administration as well as job-seekers.
People from different states apply for various government jobs in Chandigarh. Most of the states have fixed a quota for their residents and the Chandigarh Administration needs to take a similar step to safeguard the interests of city residents, the local MP said.
Local MP Kher celebrated with the notification in her hand along with dhols and sweets. Much before Kher was to make the announcement at the UT Guesthouse, various employees’ associations and students of ABVP from Panjab University had gathered there.
She even took a dig at former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal saying that he could not do anything on this issue during his term.
