Chandigarh gets 60 more public toilet blocks

CHANDIGARH: Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has approved 60 toilet blocks in green belts throughout Chandigarh in addition to 48 existing toilet blocks separate for ladies and gents toilets under “Swachh Bharat Mission. MC has started the construction work of 29 toilet blocks in Green belts throughout city.

Arun Sood, Mayor of Chandigarh has formally started the construction work of toilet block from Dream Park, sector 23-D, Chandigarh on Saturday evening.

While briefing about the provision of toilet blocks in green belts, the Mayor said that the construction work of 29 new toilet blocks in different Green belts have been allotted and will be completed within 4 month time period.
He further said that Chandigarh has already become Open Defecation Free city and win award recently and now the motive of Municipal Corporation is to provide toilet blocks in each and every park/green belt & markets of the city within this financial year.
He said that these 29 toilet blocks will be constructed in different parks throughout city. Asha Jaswal, area councillor and Sanjay Arora, superintending engineer of public health wing of MC and prominent persons of the area and office bearers of resident welfare association were present during the occasion.
