Bhagwant Mann finally apologises to Journalists
CHANDIGARH: Faced with a case registered against him, AAP MP Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday tendered an unconditional apology to the media for his alleged confrontation with journalists at a rally on September 1.
“My remarks were not aimed at all sections of media, rather just some individuals,” Bhagwant Mann said yesterday.
During the rally, Bhagwant Mann had lost patience after a question was put forward by a journalist about the sex video of AAP’s Cabinet Minister Sandeep Singh in Delhi.
“If unintentionally any of my words have hurt anyone’s sentiments, I apologize for it. I have always considered mediapersons my friends. It was one journalist who used some derogatory words. But I appreciate the unity among the mediapersons. I have no annoyance with media. I had asked that particular journalist to leave the venue,” he said.
When Sangrur MP Mann had arrived more than three hours late for a rally organized by party candidate Santokh Singh Salana, he had reportedly refused to interact with the media first even as some AAP volunteers tried to snatch away the cameras.
Last week, a case was registered on the statement of some journalists against Mann under various sections of the IPC including 109 (punishment of abatement if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 153 (promoting enmity between different groups) among others.
