Beant Singh’s killer Hawara appeals one-day parole for ‘Sarbat Khalsa’


The council of Jagtar Singh Hawara, an assassin of former Chief Minister Beant Singh has appealed the Chandigarh IGP to grant him one day parole for attending ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ at Talwandi Sabo on November 10. Hawara was declared as Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib during ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ last year.

It was stated by his lawyer Simranjit Singh that various issues of Sikhs would be discussed during the event. He also added that Sikh sangat and all the organizer of Sarbat Khalsa wants him to be a part of the occasion.
Hawara was also accused of 2004 Burial jail break. The jail break episode occurred on the intervening night of 21 and 22 January, 2004, when four undertrials, including Beant Singh’s assassins Jagtar Singh Hawara, Paramjit Singh Bheora and Jagtar Singh Tara along with their cook and murder accused Devi Singh escaped from the jail by digging a tunnel.

Hawara is presently lodged in Tihar Jail.
