Another Punjabi singer for politics – Makhan joins Akali Dal

KS Makhan, a Punjabi singer hailing from Jalandhar, joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the presence of party chief and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday. Welcoming him into the party, Sukhbir said the “multi-faceted personality” of Makhan would prove beneficial to “connect with the youth of the state”.

“The singer holds considerable sway over the youth owing to his songs and social service activities which have always promoted Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat,” he said. Thanking Sukhbir, Makhan said he has “complete faith in the policies and people friendly ideology of SAD and would work like a true soldier of the party accepting with total dedication any duty assigned to him by the party high command”.

In his singing career that began in 1998, Makhan has sung scores of melodious songs some of which devoted to spirituality. He had also played Kabaddi at the state level and had an illustrious career in the Punjabi film industry.
