Amarinder Singh against SYL
#Hoshiarpur: Keeping the 2017 #Punjab elections in mind, Punjab Congress President, Capt Amarinder Singh, gave example of Marathwada water crisis to reiterate his appeal to the judges of the Supreme Court to take into account the ground realities before deciding the SYL issue. “It won’t be that long that barren lands and parched throats would start staring at us like those in the Marathwada region in Maharashtra if the Supreme Court does not take a considerate and logical decision on the matter,” he said.
He said all three Lok Sabha MPs from Punjab – Ravneet Singh Bittu, Santokh Singh Chaudhary and himself — would resign, along with all state party MLAs, in case of an adverse judgment by the Supreme Court on the SYL canal.
On how the party high command had reacted to his decision, Amarinder said, “Since the matter pertains to Punjab, they are not interfering.”
