AAP ticket to be given to either Mr or Mrs Sidhu

While Mr and Mrs Navjot Sidhu (literally as both husband and wife share the same first name, probably one in a billion couples) are still legally in , both are openly working for right now. Mr Navjot is expected to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on August 14, while Mrs Navjot is expected to follow her husband into the party later.

However, the party is likely to allow either the cricketer-turned-politician or his wife to contest Assembly elections in Punjab on its ticket.

“It is a party rule — only one person from a family can contest election on an AAP ticket,” a source in the party said. How

AAP may prefer the lady as according to an AAP source, the party desperately needs a prominent woman candidate in Punjab, and Navjot Kaur could be an “asset to the party’s arsenal of candidates”, while Mr Navjot Sidhu can be a star campaigner.

The former MP had resigned from the Rajya Sabha, on July 19. Nominated by the BJP in April, Sidhu said that he resigned because “in the war of right or wrong, you can’t afford to be neutral”. At a post-resignation press conference, Sidhu, however, did not clarify whether he had quit the BJP — neither did he confirm whether he was joining AAP.
