AAP Comedian MP Bhagwant Mann sits on dharna after thrown out of Parliament for 2 more weeks

Bhagwant Mann sits on dharna

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Friday gave 2 weeks extension  to the parliamentary committee formed to probe Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann’s filming of security sensitive  Parliament House building till 3 December.

The nine-member committee was to present its report on Friday. The Speaker had said since the charges against Mann were serious in nature, he is advised not to attend the proceedings of the House till a decision is taken on the complaint against him. He has not been attending the proceedings on the advice of the Chair.
AAP leader Mann, a reputed comedian, however, did not take the news well and sat on a dharna outside Parliament with a placard that read this: “Modi is afraid of me, so he keeps me out of the Parliament.” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted Mann’s picture.

The AAP MP from Sangrur had triggered a controversy in July by live-streaming the security arrangements at the Parliament House complex on social media.

After facing flak for his act, the AAP MP had defended his move saying he was only showing people how Parliament functioned. He was also accused of coming to Lok Sabha as well as some other important functions drunk, a charge he denies but captured many times on video.

He had later appeared before the committee and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expulsion for compromising on national security for allowing Pakistan’s security agency inside the Pathankot airbase after the terror attack on the facility.
