Aam Xerox Party: Copying content off Congress?
A video uploaded by the Congress showcasing the issues of Punjab, rather dramatically, went viral on social media. Inviting people for ‘Halke Vich Captain’ programme with image of Captain Amarinder Singh with his video in the background.
Political strategy firm Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), which is handling the Congress’s campaign in Punjab, has accused AAP of copying the video from its page. The video was first posted on page ‘Moga Da Captain’ (https://www.facebook.com/mogadacaptain/posts/325996154402984) on September 6, with a message from Amarinder to join him for bringing back Punjab’s glory, from where it was posted on ‘Punjab Da Captain’ also the same day.
The video focuses on district Ferozepur. On AAP’s verified page it was posted on September 10, (https://www.facebook.com/AAPPunjab/videos/1126808284072495/) with a message that farmers of Punjab had suffered a lot and only Badal family had enriched.
Official Facebook pages of Punjab AAP and the state Congress have posted the same video that takes a dig at the SAD-BJP run state government. The differences being that the video on the Congress’s page titled ‘Punjab Da Captain’, is of 57 seconds duration. And the video posted on the AAP page excludes the bit in which Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh is promoted, ending in just 39 seconds.
And within a few seconds of ‘illegal mining issue’ slide, and also the culminating portion with Amarinder’s image is missing. The video had over 36,000 views, 373 Shares and 1.3k ‘Likes’ while on Moga Da Captain and Punjab da Captain pages it had over 3,000 views each.
“We don’t copy from others’ videos. But as a team works on such content, I’ll have to check what is the exact position,” said Gajendar Sharma, Punjab AAP’s IT cell in charge, denying the knowledge of any such issue.
