13-year old gives birth to baby boy at Mohali

A 13-year-old girl gave birth to a baby boy at the Civil Hospital here yesterday.Rajinder Kaur Padiala, chief organiser of Prabh Aasra, a social welfare society located on the Kurali-Kharar road, said the minor girl was handed over to her organisation by the Ludhiana police on June 28.

She was allegedly found abandoned near Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir. Medical tests revealed that she was pregnant at that time. She said the girl did not speak much and failed to give any information about herself.Rajinder Kaur said the medical check-up of the girl was going on at the Mohali Civil Hospital as well as the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh.

She said the girl was taken to the Mohali Civil Hospital yesterday but was referred to Chandigarh by doctors here. The GMCH again sent back the girl to the Mohali hospital accompanied by a team of doctors. Rajinder Kaur said the girl delivered a baby at 3 pm yesterday. The girl, who is not fully mentally alert at the time, did not pick up the baby yesterday.

Moreover, she was in pain as she had undergone a caesarean delivery. However, today she asked for the baby and made him lie next to her. Both the girl and the baby were in good health. The baby has been named Prabhsharan.
