Over 100 caught suspected doping during police recruitment test in Punjab

: Punjab for the first time introduced dope test for candidates aspiring to join the force and detected 120 such cases across the state.

Candidates were screened for morphine, benzodiazepines, propoxyphene, amphetamine and cannabis.
The measure has been introduced after four aspirants died of drug overdose and many were found using performance enhancing drugs in Haryana to boost their chances of clearing the physical tests conducted last month.
Dr Gurdeep Singh, posted at Police Lines, Bathinda, has been assigned the job to conduct tests in Bathinda. “If the authorities confirm that a candidate may have tested positive due to a prescribed medicine, he will be given another chance,” the SSP said.
Nineteen youths were tested positive for amphetamine in Muktsar, 18 in Mansa were found using morphine, amphetamine, benzodiazepine and cannabis.
